I got lost. . .and found myself in the process.
I’ve always loved a good story. Stories help us understand concepts, get inspired or remember things. I have found this to be true both in my legal career, as well as when I owned my bakery. My customers loved my food stories, and so I thought you might like them as well.
In Food Stories I explore the meaning of food in relation to our traditions, memories and legacy. Food is not only important to living, it affects our connections, our habits and our family.
As a young girl in a large family I remember dinner being a time of lively storytelling. Later I came to realize that it wasn’t just the conversation telling the stories, but the food as well. Food is the crucial link in our families. For instance, I never met my great-grandmother but to this day I make her Sugo. She likely learned the recipe from her grandmother in Italy where she lived until she emigrated here. Then she taught that recipe to my grandma, who taught it to me. Our family sugo tells a rich story, as much as it is delicious and nourishing.
I hope you enjoy my Food Stories, and that they inspire you to create some of your own.
